Executive Director

Seeking an Executive Director to take Garden to Table to the next level! Garden to Table is a Boulder-based non-profit with a  mission to expand outdoor, environmental education for elementary children through school garden programming. We welcome someone who is passionate about influencing the lives of our communities’ children and, by extension, the health of our community as a whole. By partnering with school administration and staff, the Executive Director will lead the vision to give each child at participating schools the opportunity to participate in garden-based learning every year, which deepens students’ understanding of standards-based lessons through real life applications, inspires them to connect with nature and take care of their environment, and demonstrates where food comes from and that healthy fresh foods taste good.

Garden to Table is looking for an experienced and highly-motivated individual who can build on the work accomplished over the past 16 years, leading a team of program and garden professionals to strengthen our organization. In order to expand the breadth and reach of the programming, the new Executive Director must be enthusiastic about fundraising, community outreach, and development efforts needed to grow the organization’s revenue sources and budget. The ideal Executive Director has nonprofit administrative and fundraising experience – with individuals, corporations, events, and grants.  This role will have the latitude and freedom to set strategy for the organization and determine areas for growth and expansion. These efforts will be achieved while working with a tenured, dedicated staff and a supportive Board.


  • Effective nonprofit leadership, including organizational strategy, team development and management, budgeting and organizational finance and administration
  • Demonstrated responsibility for fundraising through events and grants 
  • Strong interpersonal skills: outgoing and able to build strong relationships with district/school personnel, parents and volunteers, donors, board members, staff, and program stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, written, and communication skills
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
  • Successful candidates must pass BVSD Raptor background check


  • Knowledge of elementary education, environmental education and/or school district policies
  • Ability to work and engage in person daily with Boulder County community

Primary Responsibilities of Role:

  • Execute the strategic plan linked to the mission and vision
  • Own and manage organizational budget, including reporting and collaboration with the Board
  • Own and implement the operational plan to meet strategic goals, budget, and performance targets
  • Set and implement fundraising/development strategy and its accompanying marketing plans for organization, including:
    • Fundraising campaigns, both corporate and individual
    • Donor management practices 
    • Grant identification and execution – overseeing researching and writing grant proposals
    • Fundraising event management – currently including the annual Boulder Garden Tour (last Saturday in June) and the Garden Festival (last Sunday in September) with online auction, with freedom to modify and/or expand
  • Seek and foster growth opportunities for GTT including, but not limited to, developing partnerships with other mission-related organizations and agencies, corporate and individual sponsorships 
  • Commitment to inclusivity and serving all people equitably within our footprint
  • Administrative and compliance duties, such as: ensure state and federal compliance documents and grant reports are up to date and filed in a timely manner; work with bookkeeper to manage county and federal grant expenditures and provide quarterly financial reports; maintain operational banking and expense accounts; work with bookkeeper/CPA to submit payroll, tax payments, 990 filing, etc.

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • $70,000/year, flexible hours, work from home (no office available), paid time off

Garden Educator / AmeriCorps – Two Positions

This is a pair of 9-month positions that will launch two qualified candidates careers in outdoor, experiential education with an emphasis on gardens, sustainable food systems, and hands-on education! Our two AmeriCorps members will teach garden-based lessons for students in Prek-5th grade, help to maintain school gardens, and assist in operating a grassroots nonprofit organization. Full position description here. Serving with the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education’s eeCorp, these roles are available for the following terms:

  • January 23 – October 27, 2023
  • Living allowance of $12,000 distributed in biweekly payments of $631.58 (pre-tax)
  • $150 per month housing stipend
  • Education award of $4,546.50 upon successful completion of term of service
  • Possible to defer student loans while serving as an AmeriCorps member
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel to required trainings, days of service, and between program sites
  • Extensive training, valuable experience, networking, and the opportunity to serve the local community in a crucial area of need

Spring Internships

This internship program will focus on supporting our schools and staff by assisting in the maintenance and support of our partnering school gardens, including but not limited to: planting, irrigation work, weeding, generating volunteer support for lessons, assisting with larger upkeep and new garden builds, assisting with integrated pest management applications, promoting, set up, and clean up at fundraising events, donation assistance to local food banks and achieving food security goals, assisting parent volunteers before, during, and after school lessons, and promoting of program and mission through marketing and online platforms.   • Part time, seasonal January-completion
  • 5 to 10 hours per week
  • Hours are flexible and depend on student credit hour needs and availability 
  • Must be able to pass Boulder Valley School District background check
